Tintern Abbey
Tintern Abbey (Abaty Tyndyrn) is situated next to the village of Tintern in Monmouthshire, on the Welsh side of the River Wye, which forms the border between Monmouthshire in Wales and Gloucestershire in England. It was only the 2nd Cistercian foundation in Britain, and the 1st in Wales. Falling into ruin after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century, In 1984 Cadw took over responsibility for the site.
